The ultimate boyfriend!

I went to the toy shop with the man the other day to pick up a present and while i wandered off by myself i found this!

IT IS THE PERFECT BOYFRIEND!

He only says what you tell him to and he doesnt even cost 25 euro!
I think thats a fair price for some "sweet talkin'"!

HRH Queen Elizabeth II in Cork

Friday was a big day for Cork. For the first time Queen Elizabeth II visited Ireland and on her last day she came down to Cork.

She arrived with a helicopter together with the Duke of Edinburgh in Cork Airport and then visited the English Market, which got a lovely make over for the occasion, and later on the Tindall Institute.
The whole visit was only about an hour long.

Me and the man decided that we cant miss a day like that, so we positioned ourselves at the road along with 30000 people. We didnt made it into the city centre, but we saw them driving by twice. Unfortunatley they swapped places in the car so we saw the duke much better than the queen. I really wasnt all that excited before but the atmosphere was brilliant and i couldnt help myself but wave at them too. Only a little though :-) Loads of Garda were around too, but they were very friendly and the whole day was lovely!

My little camera didnt get any nice pics, so im stealing one of them man. Its not the best shot in the world but you see them.

Feet Dreams Cork

I went and got a fish pedicure with two of my friends today! It was already the second time i did it and i think its great fun. It takes a bit of time to get used to the feeling of fish sucking your feet, it feels a bit like your feet are asleep. But i really think it makes my feet nice and smooth and apparently it is good for your blood circulation as well.

I heard a lot of people being very concerned about the safety of the whole procedure. It is banned in some american states and Canada cause the fish cant be discarded or sanitized. I understand that for some people it might seem unhealthy or dirty cause of all the other feet the fish nibbled at. For me personally i think it is fine. You have to fill out a form before doing it saying if theres anything wrong with your feet, no open cuts or diseases ect. and before dipping your feet into the tank you get a foot bath. The tanks themselves are very clean and being filtered constantly. And by the way, the fish get also fed regular fish food, not just feet :-)

In the end is everyones personal decision! I like it, and i even made a video his time!

If your in Cork you should definitely check the place out, its on Washington Street. They also have a Facebook page here.
For anyone interested, the fish are called Garra Rufa! More information on Wikipedia.

Roadtrip

Roadtrip season officaly started for the man and myself due to lovely weather!
First trip of the year was down to schull, one of many more to come! Its one of the loveliest villages in west cork and i cant wait to spend loads of time there!
I just took some pics of the harbour while we were having the biggest Ice Cream Cone in history but im sure next time i will take a few more.

It was such a lovely day that i decided to take my new hat out, woohoo! I know you cant see much but i love it!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you all find your Easter Eggs and have a lovely day!

The man and i already got ours, lets see if you can guess which one is mine :-)

We also painted some eggs, well we drew on them with a marker. Hey, you go to work with what you got!

In case you wonder about the bottom left egg, it was a rude egg and had to be censored :-) It was the first time the man decorated easter eggs as this doesnt seem to be a tradition in Ireland. Bottom middle and left are his and i think he did pretty well!

i have to do something all day long...

I dont have a job at the moment, so im mainly a domestic goddess. Most of my time im spending with cleaning and cooking and baking and doing the laundry.... Which is alright with me for the moment but it can get a bit boring!
Two weeks ago the man and i went to switzerland on holiday and to show him to my family. There will of course be a seperate post about the trip but for now its just important that my sister gave us a book she found in a little souvenir shop. Its a childrens book called "Swizzly awakes". Its about a little scarecrow in switzerland. Main reason for my sister to give it to us was the fact that it is written in german aswell as english.

My nephew adored the book and he ordered a scarecrow straight away and it had to be before his birthday. And being the good aunt i am i said that it wouldnt be a problem at all, although i never made anything doll-like before. So here he is:

For a first try pretty good! Im also making an elephant for my baby nephew, but hes not quite finished yet:

His legs arent really the same lenght, migh have to start all over but at least it keeps me busy!

I LOVE MY SISTER!

I got a parcel yesterday with the charger for my mobile, which my mum was supposed to send me after i forgot it in Switzerland in August! Funny enough she sent the wrong one, but i will be home in four weeks anyway so i told her to forget about it :-)

More important was the additional item in the parcel! At first i wasn't sure what its supposed to be, and when i rang my mum about the wrong charger she told me that it was a present from my big sister <3

So that's what i got:

Looks like a button but it is a little metal box which can be opened to reveal something wrapped in tissue paper. At this point i still had no clue what the hell this is!

So i unwrapped the paper and things got a bit clearer :-D

Its a teeny tiny little Advent Wreath!! How cute is that?? I cant wait for the 28th now, the 1. Advent, to light the first candle!

I have the best big sister EVER!

Picture of the Week

The picture of the week.
The reason i will do that from now on is that i have so many pics on my laptop that i took and put in a folder and there they are now lonely and forgotten. So why not post them and give them a bit of a life?

Harry Potter

Ive been to the cinema yesterday to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Last time i was in a cinema that full was Alice in Wonderland, it was completely sold out. Good thing we were there early as you don't get a seat number!

I was so excited to see it, the trailers already looked really good and i enjoyed the other six films very much.
And i absolutely loved it!! Seeing as the films got darker and more tense with each book i was expecting the same for this one, but they managed to get a lot of humor in it too. Especially the relationship between Hermione and Ron is the source of a lot of really funny scenes!

The actors are doing a great job, the scenery is lovely and its just a really good film! I cant wait to see part 2, its so long until July! But i can only recommend Part 1, i think i will actually go and see it again :-) Two thumbs up from me!

Today was a lovely day in Cork. It is really cold here now, but i finally managed to get a warm parka. Roll on winter, I'm not scared of you!

Today was absolutely gorgeous though as the sun was shining, so i went for coffee in town. I had my first Christmas coffee of the year (a gingerbread latte), which made me get in to a bit of a Christmas spirit so i went to get the mans Christmas present. I cant tell you what is is though, as he is probably reading this too...

Also i decided to post a picture of the week from now on, yay! There will be a new pic every Monday, starting tomorrow!

Youghal

Today was a lovely sunny day so the man and i took a trip to Youghal! We went to Front Strand for a little walk. Its getting quite cold here, but today was a gorgeous day with lots of sunshine! I took some lovely pictures while trying not to get wet :-)

 sunny day is sunny

the man taking pics with the proper camera

Unfortunatley the weekend is over already! I wish i had more than one proper day off a week, when youre only off on sunday the weekend is just so short!

Tuesday 9 November 2010

Curls and another trip to the cinema

Im quite obsessed with my curling iron at the moment! Usualy my hair cant be straight enough but all i want now is curls!

And the more often you do it the faster you get, it takes me like 30 minutes now, which isnt to bad compared to the hour it took me in the beginning! Unfortunatley the irish weather isnt my friend at the moment, constant rain destroys straight or curled hair in seconds! Ah well, i do it anyway...

Ive been to the cinema again, the man wanted to see "Despicable Me".
It was actually quite funny, its about a supervillain who has seen better days and tries to steal the moon with the help of some orphan girls. The end is kinda predictable and the story sometimes a bit too corny, but its a kids movie after all and its quite enjoyable anyway. I loved the little helpers the villain has called minions, they were just too cute!!

Oh, and i survived halloween!! I finished my costume in the last minute and my makeup was done with eyeliner, but it was a great night! I would post some pictures, but i dont have a good one :-(

Pizza

Good evening!

Yesterday i spent the night at the mans house, we had planned to make pizza, yummy!!!
And because the pizza was soooooooooooooooooooo nice you all gonna get some pics :-)

Very important: THE DOUGH!

Before:                                                                              After:
Now thats what i call rise and shine! (ok, thats a lame joke...)
Then it was time for the fun part! All the stuff that goes on the pizza :-)

My pizza with lots of cheese                                             The mans pizza, mainly with meat

And the same thing after the oven:

It was really nice, but just way too  much :-) We spent a lovely evening eating pizza, drinking wine and watching glee! I dont know, somehow the new season kinda sucks...

Oh, and not to forget the most important thing!! I got breakfast in bed! Best man ever!

<3 <3 <3

Now i have to go back to my mirror to try make up for Halloween! You will get some pics on Sunday. And i still havent made my costume, which actually makes me panic a bit :-)

Jazz, Zombieland and a roast chicken....

Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was lovely, just too short (as usual).

Friday night i was out with my lovely Swedish friend Johanna <3 And we decided to go out more often on Saturday instead of Friday! We went home at 12 cause we were both just soooo tired! Au Pair life can be quite exhausting :-D And i might be getting old, soon im 26! I won't be in my early to mid-twenties anymore but in my late-twenties! But then again people think i look like i am 18, so i think i will be fine ...
It was Jazz Festival in Cork, lots of bands were playing (we didn't saw any) and town was apparently packed the whole weekend!

Saturday and Sunday i stayed at the mans house and we were plain lazy :-)
We watched Zombieland, which was really funny, i liked it! But does someone else think that Jesse Eisenberg sounds a bit like Michael Cera in the beginning??
Oh, and Sunday i got a lovely roast chicken with potatoes and vegetables! Thanks Babe, it was YUM :-)

This picture was not taken this weekend, but its still a nice shot of Cork at night!

Hope you all had a weekend as nice as mine!
