HRH Queen Elizabeth II in Cork

Friday was a big day for Cork. For the first time Queen Elizabeth II visited Ireland and on her last day she came down to Cork.

She arrived with a helicopter together with the Duke of Edinburgh in Cork Airport and then visited the English Market, which got a lovely make over for the occasion, and later on the Tindall Institute.
The whole visit was only about an hour long.

Me and the man decided that we cant miss a day like that, so we positioned ourselves at the road along with 30000 people. We didnt made it into the city centre, but we saw them driving by twice. Unfortunatley they swapped places in the car so we saw the duke much better than the queen. I really wasnt all that excited before but the atmosphere was brilliant and i couldnt help myself but wave at them too. Only a little though :-) Loads of Garda were around too, but they were very friendly and the whole day was lovely!

My little camera didnt get any nice pics, so im stealing one of them man. Its not the best shot in the world but you see them.

Feet Dreams Cork

I went and got a fish pedicure with two of my friends today! It was already the second time i did it and i think its great fun. It takes a bit of time to get used to the feeling of fish sucking your feet, it feels a bit like your feet are asleep. But i really think it makes my feet nice and smooth and apparently it is good for your blood circulation as well.

I heard a lot of people being very concerned about the safety of the whole procedure. It is banned in some american states and Canada cause the fish cant be discarded or sanitized. I understand that for some people it might seem unhealthy or dirty cause of all the other feet the fish nibbled at. For me personally i think it is fine. You have to fill out a form before doing it saying if theres anything wrong with your feet, no open cuts or diseases ect. and before dipping your feet into the tank you get a foot bath. The tanks themselves are very clean and being filtered constantly. And by the way, the fish get also fed regular fish food, not just feet :-)

In the end is everyones personal decision! I like it, and i even made a video his time!

If your in Cork you should definitely check the place out, its on Washington Street. They also have a Facebook page here.
For anyone interested, the fish are called Garra Rufa! More information on Wikipedia.

Harry Potter

Ive been to the cinema yesterday to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Last time i was in a cinema that full was Alice in Wonderland, it was completely sold out. Good thing we were there early as you don't get a seat number!

I was so excited to see it, the trailers already looked really good and i enjoyed the other six films very much.
And i absolutely loved it!! Seeing as the films got darker and more tense with each book i was expecting the same for this one, but they managed to get a lot of humor in it too. Especially the relationship between Hermione and Ron is the source of a lot of really funny scenes!

The actors are doing a great job, the scenery is lovely and its just a really good film! I cant wait to see part 2, its so long until July! But i can only recommend Part 1, i think i will actually go and see it again :-) Two thumbs up from me!

Today was a lovely day in Cork. It is really cold here now, but i finally managed to get a warm parka. Roll on winter, I'm not scared of you!

Today was absolutely gorgeous though as the sun was shining, so i went for coffee in town. I had my first Christmas coffee of the year (a gingerbread latte), which made me get in to a bit of a Christmas spirit so i went to get the mans Christmas present. I cant tell you what is is though, as he is probably reading this too...

Also i decided to post a picture of the week from now on, yay! There will be a new pic every Monday, starting tomorrow!

Jazz, Zombieland and a roast chicken....

Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was lovely, just too short (as usual).

Friday night i was out with my lovely Swedish friend Johanna <3 And we decided to go out more often on Saturday instead of Friday! We went home at 12 cause we were both just soooo tired! Au Pair life can be quite exhausting :-D And i might be getting old, soon im 26! I won't be in my early to mid-twenties anymore but in my late-twenties! But then again people think i look like i am 18, so i think i will be fine ...
It was Jazz Festival in Cork, lots of bands were playing (we didn't saw any) and town was apparently packed the whole weekend!

Saturday and Sunday i stayed at the mans house and we were plain lazy :-)
We watched Zombieland, which was really funny, i liked it! But does someone else think that Jesse Eisenberg sounds a bit like Michael Cera in the beginning??
Oh, and Sunday i got a lovely roast chicken with potatoes and vegetables! Thanks Babe, it was YUM :-)

This picture was not taken this weekend, but its still a nice shot of Cork at night!

Hope you all had a weekend as nice as mine!

Cinema

I've been to the cinema twice this weekend, so here two tiny little reviews :-)

Friday

I went to the cinema with the girls so it was chick flick time! We saw "Life as we know it". I didn't had very high expectations, to be fair i didn't had any. And i wasn't too surprised... The film is OK, the end is kinda predictable and so are the jokes but hey, its a chick flick! What i do want to mention though is that i really liked the music!! <3

Saturday

Saw "Social Network" with the man. Again, i wasn't really sure what to expect and i have to say i loved it! The story is good, the actors do a great job and the film kept my attention for the whole two hours. And it had of the probably funniest lines i heard in a film in ages:  "I'm 6'5", 220 pounds, and there are two of me." said by a furious twin :-) And Andrew Garfield is just too cute, cant wait to see him as Peter Parker!

After the film we went to the Woodford Bar and Cafe on  Paul Street for a drink. It re-opened a few weeks ago, i think. Its a lovely place, definitely gonna go there again :-) Absolutely looooove the lampshades! I had a yummy Bulmers Pear, i was waiting for that all week!
